On Feb. 9 Christie’s announced the appointment of Jussi Pylkkänen to the newly created position of president, Christie’s Europe.
NEW YORK—On Feb. 9 Christie’s announced the appointment of Jussi Pylkkänen to the newly created position of president, Christie’s Europe. According to the auction house, Pylkkänen will lead European business development and be responsible for Christie’s regional offices throughout continental Europe. He will also continue, as Christie’s international director, to head the Impressionist and modern department in Europe.
Additionally Pylkkänen will oversee client advisory teams, exhibition tours and sponsorship and special events departments. Edward Dolman, CEO of Christie’s International, stated, “As the international art market remains strong, we look forward to continuing to develop Christie’s presence throughout Europe.”
Said Pylkkänen: “Over the past two years, the strengthening of certain economies has seen a major contribution from European-based collectors at the very highest levels of the international art market. Christie’s has dynamic and ambitious plans to expand our operations in Europe.”
