Shapazian Cuts Gallery Ties

NEW YORK-After nearly ten years as a founding director of the Gagosian Gallery’s Los Angeles venue, Robert Shapazian told ARTnewsletter, he will leave the gallery at the end of October.

Shapazian says he plans to remain in Los Angeles, where he will continue to work with several clients, including a number of major collectors.

Also, Shapazian noted, he will continue to concentrate on a number of community projects he has long supported, particularly those that “help inner-city children to excel in their academic and cultural education.”

He describes his time at the gallery as a “gratifying, fantastic experience,” then quips, “I didn’t want to be around for the tenth anniversary. I thought it was time to push off in a new direction.”
