NEW YORK—German auctioneer Ketterer Kunst has announced the launch of a branch in Berlin—its third in Germany. The auction house already holds sales in Hamburg and Munich. The new space, comprised of 150 square meters (1,600 square feet), is located in Charlottenburg.

“Being close to the Eastern European growth market is very important to us,” said auctioneer and managing director Robert Ketterer. Another reason for the auction house’s expansion to Berlin, Ketterer noted, is its increased focus on contemporary art after 1945. This includes the introduction of a new postwar division to the Hamburg and Munich modern art auctions earlier this year.

The first event at the new Berlin branch will be a Nov. 24 preview of modern and postwar art for an upcoming sale in Munich on Dec 5.
