NEW YORK—The Andy Warhol Foundation, New York, has teamed up with Burton Snowboards, Burlington, Vt., to produce a line of limited-edition snowboards, boots, bindings, men’s and women’s clothing, and travel bags featuring Andy Warhol prints. The collection is expected to be launched in stores next August.

Burton’s senior vice president and creative director Greg Dacyshyn said the company “was honored” to have been sought out for collaboration by the Warhol foundation.

“Andy Warhol’s irreverent attitude toward art, fashion, music and life in general embodies what snowboarding and Burton is all about. The foundation gave us access to a tremendous selection of Andy’s work,” says Dacyshyn. He adds that foundation representatives “encouraged us to explore his art to create something truly unique.”

According to a joint statement issued by Burton and the Warhol Foundation, the collection features snowboard graphics “worthy of their own wall space in a gallery,” while the men’s and women’s clothing lines offer “unique sublimated artwork on the outerwear shell and liner fabric.”

Last spring the Warhol Foundation and Levi Strauss & Co., San Francisco, launched Warhol Factory X Levi’s, a reference to the name of Warhol’s New York studio in the 1960s (ANL, 8/30/05). The Levi’s collection, Warhol Foundation licensing director Michael Hermann told ARTnewsletter, “has received very strong response at retail.”
