NEW YORK—Phillips, de Pury & Company, which operates salerooms in New York and London, is starting up a branch in Cologne, Germany. Gérard A. Goodrow, who has experience as director of both the Art Cologne art fair and Christie’s contemporary art department in London, will serve as director of business development.
Goodrow tells ARTnewsletter the Phillips’ Cologne branch will focus on several specific areas, from contemporary art and photography to design and jewelry.
“I hope,” he says, “to bring the company forward in dealing with a wide range of issues, not just the German market or contemporary art.” The location of the new Phillips Cologne branch has not yet been announced.
Meanwhile, art dealer Daniel Hug has been named as the new director of the Art Cologne fair, which takes place from April 16-20 this year.
