The Institute of Contemporary Art Miami, a new institution comprised of former board members of the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami, announced today that it has appointed a new interim director, Suzanne Weaver, a 20-year museum veteran who has held positions at the Dallas Museum of Art, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and the Speed Art Museum.

Weaver replaces Alex Gartenfeld, whose new title at the new institution is deputy director and chief curator.

In August, the group that now comprises the ICA officially broke with the city of North Miami, and moved out of the MOCA North Miami plant to a new temporary space in Miami’s Design District. The release says the board is currently looking for a new permanent space.
