Yesterday, Christie’s New York announced the appointment of Elizabeth Beaman to the Head Of Department, American Art.
Beaman, who joined the department in 2011 as Vice President, will replace Liz Sterling, who has decided to depart the auction house to “pursue other endeavors,” according to a statement from Christie’s. Sterling will continue to work with Christie’s into 2015 as a consultant.
“We are very sad to see Liz leave her role in the American Art Department… However, we are thrilled that she will be helping us mount our first exhibition in our new West Galleries in 2015,” Doug Woodham, Christie’s president for the Americas said in the release.
“We know that the department is in very capable hands with Elizabeth,” Woodham continued. “Elizabeth has been an incredible asset to the department in her short time here, has deep relationships with both consignors and buyer and terrific expertise. We look forward to a seamless transition during this time of change.”
