Christie’s New York will expand its ground-floor exhibition space at Rockefeller Plaza in November with new galleries that will display art available for private sale. The 11,000-square-foot space, called the West Galleries, was designed by Selldorf Architects and includes five new viewing rooms and an exhibition gallery.
In a statement, Marc Porter, chairman of Christie’s Americas and international director of private sales, said, “We are thrilled to announce the expansion of Christie’s gallery space in New York, which will primarily serve our vibrant, and growing, Private Sales business. The additional gallery space will host exhibitions to further engage public audiences with spectacular art, as well as bespoke experiences for collectors to connect with art, objects, jewels and watches, 365 days a year through Private Sales.”
For those readers who haven’t had a bespoke experience with jewels in a while: rest easy tonight.
