The Frieze art fair has named Abby Bangser as its artistic director for the Americas and Asia. The newly created position will support Frieze’s director, Victoria Siddall, who recently took over from Frieze co-founders and co-directors Matthew Slotover and Amanda Sharp.
Bangser has previously headed the Americas Foundation of the Serpentine Galleries, and has served as director of annual giving programs at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
“Abby brings fantastic gallery, institutional and collector relationships to this new role,” Siddall said in a statement, “and I am thrilled she is joining our team. She has shown her passion for and commitment to Frieze and her insight as an American will be invaluable to us, ensuring that the fairs continue to deliver at the highest levels.”
Bangser’s title seems to confirm rumors of a new Asian edition of Frieze, though the fair doesn’t seem to be saying anything on that subject yet.
