Chapter NY has been run on a part-time basis for the last year and a half by Nicole Russo, a director at Mitchell-Innes & Nash, who kept the gallery open on a weekend-only schedule. Today, Russo announced that she’s left her job at New York’s Mitchell-Innes & Nash gallery to devote herself full-time to Chapter, which is located at 127 Henry Street on the Lower East Side.
“I just came to the realization that my passion was more with Chapter,” Russo said in a phone interview. “I’ve been working in galleries for about 12 years and it seemed time to take the big leap.”
She will work on mounting more exhibitions and expanding the gallery’s artist roster, which already includes Paul Heyer, Patrick Berrran, and Sam Anderson. “The rest of the roster will build slowly over time,” Russo said. The gallery’s new hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (This Wednesday, January 21, will kickstart the new schedule, Russo said.)
Chapter currently has a group show up called WITH & WIDTH, featuring Math Bass, Lauren Davis Fisher and Gordon Hall, on view through February 15.
