In its latest Market Note, Skate’s notes that Berlin-based online art trading platform Auctionata published its 2014 results, rising to the number-one spot ahead of peers like Paddle8, Christie’s, and artnet.com with $41 million in gross merchandise value sold, a 148 percent increase from last year’s sales. For comparison, Christie’s online-only sales totaled just $35.1 million last year, a 60 percent jump from 2013. Together, all four platforms generated $144 million and doubled the volume of online trade compared to 2013.
