Dr. Dre Is Donating All Of The Royalties From His New Album To Fund An Arts Center In Compton

Dr. Dre.

Today, Artforum reports from an August 6 Rolling Stone article that the producer and rapper Dr. Dre will be donating all of the royalties from his newest record Compton to help fund a performing arts space in that titular city in Los Angeles County.

Dre–who will be working directly with Compton mayer Aja Brown and her office–had this to say: “I’ve been really trying to do something special for Compton and just couldn’t quite figure out what it was. She actually had this idea and she was already in the process of working on it. I said, ‘Boom, this is what we should do.’”
