The Newcomb Art Museum at Tulane University in New Orleans announced that it has hired Anna Mecugni as its new curator and coordinator of academic programming. Prior to her new appointment, Mecugni worked as an exhibition assistant for the Sachs Collection in Philadelphia.
The Italian-born Mecugni has worked as both a researcher and curator, and has held positions at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Venice Biennale, the James Gallery at the City University of New York, the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. As a researcher focusing on, as per a press release, “transdisciplinary approaches to questions of identity, gender, and race”, Mecugni has published work in a number of publications including the 2007 Venice Biennale exhibition catalogue.
Earlier this year, Mecugni co-edited and authored a catalogue that accompanied the Keith L. and Katherine Sachs Collection exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
