Peter Zumthor talked recently about his planned expansion of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. One tidbit: there will be no white walls—Zumthor is going with a “monastic clay tone.” Almost half of the money for the $600 million project has been raised. [The Art Newspaper]

Jeff Koons visited Charleston, South Carolina, offered a little history lesson on the United States, and talked about being a student at the Maryland Institute College of Art: “They took us to the Baltimore Museum of Art. When I went through the museum I realized I knew nothing about art. I did not know who the artists were. I may have heard Matisse’s name, but probably never saw one. And I survived that moment.
