ArtTable, an organization focused on the advancement of women’s leadership in the visual arts, announced today that it will honor Lowery Stokes Sims at its 24th annual benefit and award ceremony in April 2017.

Sims—whose work as a curator at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York began in 2007, after a stint as curator and director of the Studio Museum in Harlem—will receive the group’s Distinguished Service to the Visual Arts Award. At the same ceremony, a New Leadership Award will go to Lauren Cornell of the New Museum in New York. After making her name as the director of Rhizome and then as co-curator (with Ryan Trecartin) of the museum’s 2015 triennial, the New Museum appointed Cornell to a new post in which she continues to serve: Curator and Associate Director, Technology Initiatives.
