Last spring, it was announced that Galerie Perrotin would be moving in New York from its Madison Avenue location to a new space on the Lower East Side, which, at 25,000-square-feet, is seven times the size of its former home. Today, the news broke that the debut show at this new location (housed at 130 Orchard Street) will be by the young Colombia-born, Paris-based artist Iván Argote. It is slated to open in May.

This year Argote was shortlisted for the 4th edition of the Future Generation Art Prize, established by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation in Kiev, Ukraine. The winner will be announced in March. On his work, a release states that “by creating interventions and performances for the public space, which are sometimes further developed in the format of films and installations, the artist explores the city as a space of transformation.”
