United States Artists announced today that Deana Haggag will be its new president and CEO. She officially begins her time at USA on April 3.
Since 2013, Haggag has been the executive director of the Contemporary, an itinerant kunsthalle in Baltimore that has devoted itself to contemporary artists working in and beyond Maryland. She joins USA, which provided unrestricted grants to artists, as it is about to complete its goal of raising $20 million as part of an endowment campaign.
“USA’s mission is more important now than ever,” Haggag said in a statement. “USA Fellows embody the creativity, passion, diversity, and talent of this country, and the incredible heights American artists are capable of. It will be a privilege to support them in their future efforts, and to celebrate what they’ve already accomplished.”
