Pioneer Works in Brooklyn Hires Sheetal Prajapati as Director of Public Engagement

Pioneer Works, the expansive “center for research and experimentation in contemporary culture” in Brooklyn, has hired Sheetal Prajapati as director of public engagement, to begin next week. In her role, Prajapati will work on education and arts programming with a “commitment to cultural access through inclusive community engagement.”

From 2008 until 2016, Prajapati was the assistant director of learning and artists initiatives at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. While there she worked with artists to develop public programs and projects at the museum, such as Nina Katchadourian’s audio tour of MoMA’s collection of dust. Prior to that, Prajapati served as director of educational programs at the Mary and Leigh Block Museum of Art at Northwestern University and at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, where she helped develop its family and youth programs division.

Prajapati is also an adjunct professor at the Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia and, most recently, was elected to sit on the artist and community council of the New York-based Laundromat Project.
