Pictures at an Exhibition presents images of one notable show every weekday.

Today’s show: “Generation Loss: 10 Years of the Julia Stoschek Collection” is on view at the Julia Stoschek Collection in Düsseldorf, Germany, through Sunday, June 10, 2018. The group exhibition, organized in collaboration with artist Ed Atkins, takes its name from a term that, according to an exhibition statement, “generally refers to the process of a qualitative loss in successively copied data. Everything that reduces the representative quality as copies of data are made, can be regarded as a form of ‘generation loss.’ However, this holds true not just for data formats or material media, but also manifests itself in an ideological sense in politics, culture, nature, from one generation to the next.”
