Corey Piper Named Curator of American Art at Chrysler Museum

The Chrysler Museum of Art has appointed Corey Piper as its new Brock Curator of American Art. Piper previously worked at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, where he was a curatorial associate.

At the VMFA, Piper helped with a number of exhibitions and installations, including the museum’s 2013 show of British sporting prints. He has also published articles in Panorama: Journal of the Association of Historians of American Art, the Burlington Magazine, and the British Art Journal.

Piper has also held fellowships at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

In a statement, Piper said he has “long admired the Chrysler’s phenomenal collection of American art for both its well-known masterpieces and unexpected gems.”
