Frieze magazine has appointed Andrew Durbin its senior editor for the Americas. Durbin has already started in his new position and is currently working from the publication’s New York office (Frieze also operates out of London and Berlin). He is now editing columns, features, and news items related to North and South America.
From 2014 until earlier this year, Durbin was the director of Company Gallery in New York’s Lower East Side. During his tenure at Company, which he cofounded, Durbin helped bring Barbara Hammer, Raúl de Nieves, and others onto the gallery’s roster. Since 2011, Durbin has also been an editor at the independent publisher Wonder.
As a writer, Durbin has published two full-length books, Mature Themes (2014) and MacArthur Park (2017). His writings have also appeared in publications including Bomb, Mousse, and Triple Canopy.
