The New York Post‘s “Page Six” reported today that the actor Jake Gyllenhaal is busy doing some preparatory work for a currently untitled Netflix movie that takes a look at the art scene in Los Angeles. The actor is slated to play an art critic.
An unnamed source told the Post that the film, currently in pre-production, is a “revealing look at the art market in L.A. that involves billionaire collectors, gallerists, auctions, and sales.” The film is slated to co-star Rene Russo, who also acted alongside Gyllenhaal in Nightcrawler, and will be directed by Dan Gilroy, whose credits include Nightcrawler (as director and writer) and The Bourne Legacy (as a co-writer). Other than that, there is scant information—IMDB lists the movie as Untitled Dan Gilroy Project and summarizes it as “plot unknown. A drama set in the art world.”
It is unclear exactly what kind of research the Donnie Darko star has been doing, but if you’ve seen the actor out and about at any galleries or museums, feel free to email tips to firstname.lastname@example.org. (This may not be a real email address).
