Pictures at an Exhibition presents images of one notable show every weekday.

Today’s show: “Picturing Mississippi, 1817–2017: Land of Plenty, Pain, and Promise” is on view at the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson, Mississippi, through Sunday, July 8. The group exhibition, which commemorates the bicentennial anniversary of Mississippi’s statehood, brings together around 175 works by more than 100 artists that chart the history of the state. Among the included artists are Henri Cartier-Bresson, Benny Andrews, Danny Lyon, Jeffrey Gibson, Sam Gilliam, McArthur Binion, John Steuart Curry, Eudora Welty, Bruce Davidson, John James Audubon, and Joanna Underwood Blackburn.
