The Toledo Museum of Art in Ohio announced the promotions of two staff members to new roles: Halona Norton-Westbrook has been named director of curatorial affairs, and Andrea Gardner director of collections.

Norton-Westbrook began her career at the museum as an Andrew W. Mellon Fellow in 2013. In 2015, she became head of visitor engagement and, the following year, director of collections. She began in her new role in January. Gardner has worked at TMA since 2006, first as an intern in the curatorial and registrations department, and later as registrar and assistant systems officer. She started in her new position in December.

“Andrea Gardner and Halona Norton-Westbrook have proven themselves to be essential members of our collections and curatorial teams over the last many years,” said Brian Kennedy, TMA’s director. “We are so pleased to see them step up to an enhanced portfolio of responsibilities and look forward to their many scholarly and administrative contributions in the future.”

Norton-Westbrook, as director of curatorial affairs, holds curatorial authority over TMA’s modern and contemporary art collections, and offers strategic support to various museum departments. Among her responsibilities as director of collections, Gardner manages the exhibitions, conservation, and registration departments as well as logistical and operational matters relating to the care and display of collections.
