The David Roberts Art Foundation in London has named Fatoş Üstek its new director, taking the reins from Vincent Honoré, who left his position as the foundation’s founding director and chief curator this past October to become a senior curator at the Hayward Gallery. Üstek will oversee the foundation, which was founded in 2007 by the British collector David Roberts as a place for projects by emerging artists, as it repositions itself following the sale of its permanent gallery in London’s Camden neighborhood space last year.

Prior to joining the foundation’s staff, Üstek was an independent curator who had worked on various projects in London, at such institutions as the Whitechapel Gallery and the Institute of Contemporary Arts. In addition to her work in the British art world, she helped organize the Gwangju Biennale in 2014. In her new position, Üstek will help the foundation “investigate fresh ways of supporting art and showcasing artistic positions,” according to a statement.

“DRAF is one of the most dynamic arts organizations in London today, renowned for its innovative program,” Üstek said. “I am honored to lead and advance its remarkable commitment to art and artists.”
