Mophradat Names 2018 Consortium Commissions for Emerging Artists from Arab World

The Belgian organization Mophradat has revealed the participants in its 2018 Consortium Commissions program, for which emerging artists from the Arab world are given up to $22,000 in grant money to realize new projects. Their works will later be shown at various venues partnered with Mophradat, including the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin and the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles.

The artists participating this year are Basma Alsharif, Shadi Habib Allah, Yazan Khalili, Maurice Louca, Jasmina Metwaly, and nasa4nasa. Shortlisted artists included Noor Abuarafeh, Doa Aly, Fayçal Baghriche, Shuruq Harb, Mahmoud Khaled, Lynn Kodeih, and Joe Namy.

Each artist’s work will be shown at two institutions around the world, at museums and arts festivals that also nominated the artists who will be receiving grants through the program.
