The Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota, Florida, has received a gift of an undisclosed amount from the Ting Tsung and Wei Fong Chao Foundation in support of its work on Asian art.

In honor of that gift, and the foundation’s previous support, the museum said that it will rename its Center for Asian Art, a 25,000-square-foot space that opened in 2016, the Ting Tsung and Wei Fong Chao Center for Asian Art.

The gift will go toward established an endowment for acquisition, exhibitions, and programs in the field of Asian art, and is part of a $100 million capital campaign that the Ringling is currently running. (That campaign is part of a larger effort by Florida State University, which oversees the Ringling, to raise $1 billion.)

Steven High, the executive director of the Ringling, said in a release, “Through this extraordinary gift and previous critical support of the Ringling’s Asian art initiatives, the Ting Tsung and Wei Fong Chao Foundation elevates our ability to make an even greater impact and foster cultural connections with visitors and scholars in Florida and around the world.”
