Kader Attia is now represented by Los Angeles’s Regen Projects gallery, where he will have a solo show in early 2020. The news comes as he prepares for a solo exhibition this coming February at the Hayward Gallery in London.

Attia, who was born in France and grew up between the suburbs of Paris and Algeria, is currently based in Berlin. His multidisciplinary work, which spans sculpture, photography, installation, and video, reflects that experience of living between multiple cultures throughout his life. (He has also lived for periods in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Venezuela, and Spain.) Subjects addressed in his work include the legacy of colonialism and its influence on various cultural identities, post-colonial societies’ collective traumas, and methods of healing.

“Kader’s poetic ability to harness the power of various mediums to thoughtfully address complex cultural and socio-political issues is continually inspiring and crucial for understanding our place in this global world,” dealer Shaun Caley Regen said in a statement. “We are thrilled to support him at this pivotal moment in his career.”
