Lauren Wittels has been named a partner of Luhring Augustine gallery in New York. Currently a senior director, Wittels first began working at Luhring Augustine in 1989 before leaving in 1995 to open her own gallery. From 1999 to 2001 she was vice president at Citibank Art Advisory Services, and she founded Regency Arts Press Ltd. in 2003. She returned to the Luhring Augustine fold in 2011.
Roland Augustine, a co-owner of the gallery, said in a statement, “Lauren’s contribution to the gallery program and her dedication to the artists and clients of the gallery certainly warrants such well-deserved recognition, and we congratulate her and look forward to many more fruitful years of collaboration.”
In addition to her work for Luhring Augustine, Wittels sits on the boards of the Art Dealers Association of America and Visual AIDS. She is also on the faculty of the Bronx Museum of the Arts’s Artists in the Marketplace program.
