Marc-Olivier Wahler has stepped down from his position as director of the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University in Lansing, the Art Newspaper reports. He left his post for “family reasons,” according to the report.

Wahler has been director of the MSU Broad for the last two and a half years. During his time, Wahler programmed about 30 shows each year and founded the Art Lab, which is home to a research center and exhibition spaces. Prior to becoming director of the MSU Broad, Wahler was director and chief curator of the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.

“We are grateful for the lasting impact of his innovative vision for MSU Broad, and his initiation of Art Lab, a new collaborative and community-oriented venue that is dedicated to the museum’s collection and functions as a testing ground for what may define the museum of the future,” the museum said in a statement given to the Art Newspaper.
