Hedge-fund manager Alan Howard’s collection includes a $43 million Monet water-lily painting. The head of the firm Brevan Howard Asset Management, Howard is worth $1.5 billion as of September 2016, according to Forbes. In 2013, Howard paid $10 million to the victims of the Filipino dictator Ferdinand Marcos in order to retain possession of the Monet mentioned above; it used to belong to a widow of Marcos.
