Back in her school days, Chinese fashion designer Li Lin wanted to study art but her father pushed her toward chemistry. Undeterred, an ambitious Lin pursued her creative desires through fashion, naming her clothing label JNBY (Just Naturally Be Yourself). Today JNBY is one of China’s most recognizable fashion brands with over 900 branches spread out over several continents. In an interview Lin admitted to not being much of a “fashion expert,” but rather looks to art—her “big passion”—as a source of inspiration. If this fact isn’t self-evident in Lin’s work, then certainly it can be inferred from her art collection.
