Bridgitt and Bruce Evans
Philanthropy (VIA Art Fund); Private equity (Summit Partners)
Since founding Visionary Initiatives in Art in 2013, Bridgitt Evans has made possible the dreams of artists with outsize ambitions. In 2017 alone, VIA provided grants for Pope.L’s Whispering Campaign that was included in this year’s Documenta 14; the Los Angeles Nomadic Division’s public installation by Jose Dávila that will debut as part of Pacific Standard Time; and nonprofits such as Triple Canopy and Independent Curators International. But VIA is just a small part of the arts and philanthropy operation spearheaded by Evans and her husband, Summit Partners managing director Bruce Evans. The Boston-based couple has built an important collection that includes work by Glenn Ligon, Albert Oehlen, Christopher Wool, Mark Bradford, and Raymond Pettibon; donated generously to local universities; and helped produced Doug Aitken’s cross-country jamboree, Station to Station. This, all while raising four children.
