Uli Sigg had a strategy for his collection of Chinese art from the very beginning. “I wanted it to be a mirror of Chinese art production, across time and across all media,” the Swiss collector told Blouin Artinfo. “To put my personal taste in the background, and collect like an institution.” In 2012, the collection that he had been amassing like an institution was given to one when he donated almost everything he had acquired—1,500 works of art—to M+ in Hong Kong, keeping only 400 pieces for himself.
