The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the Institute of Contemporary Art Boston are free to the public today, Apr. 16, 2013, in response to the bombings yesterday at the Boston Marathon.
“Our entire community was affected by yesterday’s tragedy,” said Malcolm Rogers, director of the MFA Boston, in a press release. “We hope by opening the Museum’s doors and offering free admission we will be a place of comfort, refuge, and peace.”
The collection galleries and special exhibitions at the MFA Boston will be open to all visitors. The Museum of Fine Arts will also host several drop-in programs, tours, story hours for families, and art-making activities.
The ICA’s free school vacation week programs will proceed as scheduled. Security procedures at the ICA have been intensified to ensure safety.
The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston is open until 4:45 p.m.
The Institute of Contemporary Art Boston is open until 5 p.m.
