In Captured This Week, Art in America takes a look at art by culling the collections of Flickr photographers from around the world. This week we look as far-off as Long Island City, Queens:
In Berlin: user Kunstcarle spots an international take on the Wild West, or the other half of that Maurizio Cattelan sculpture. In cooperation with Kunst-Werke, the Hotel Marienbad in Auguststrasse, Berlin, is offering artists a place to stay in exchange for site-specific work. This is Bremen-based artist Anna Jandt’s current installation.
it wasn’t the first time, but hopefully it will be the last: In Paris, a Russian visitor to the Louvre attacked the Mona Lisa. User Martin_Tod claims you can see the damage to the bullet proof glass.
In London: user gymothy watches as David Byrne poses at the launch of his installation ‘Playing the Building’ at the Camden Roundhouse, an old steam engine shed.
And at Sculpture Center in Queens: High-Karate photographs Brendan Fowler (BARR), who gave a subtle tribute to his friend Dash Snow, and who later scaled the bus behind him.
