In early September, the Austrian Cultural Forum (ACF) will welcome Christine Moser as its new director. Moser is a long-time diplomat who has served in Paris, Brussels and Geneva, most recently with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe. She succeeds Andreas Stadler, who is returning to Vienna after six years as director of the ACF.
This fall Moser will oversee two major events: “An I For An Eye,” an exhibition exploring how violent conflicts are represented in the media, and the annual “Moving Sounds Festival,” which Stadler launched in 2009. In the coming year Moser plans to organize an exhibition observing the centennial of the start of World War I, and, in 2015, an event to commemorate the 650th anniversary of the founding of the University of Vienna.
Founded in 1942 and located on 52nd Street in Midtown Manhattan, the ACF hosts free art, music and film events, and has a 10,000-volume lending library of Austrian literary, artistic, historical and political works.
