Berlin-based Clara Brörmann’s layered, almost diaphanous paintings look like they are fronted with patterned screens that block our view to some mysterious background scene. Bits of exposed canvas peek through strips and swaths of oil paint, acrylic putty, ink and pencil, adding to the tactility of her geometric compositions.
