With this Public Art Fund-organized exhibition, Danh Vo shows selections of pieces from We the People (2010-14), a one-to-one replica of Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi’s Statue of Liberty, in two of New York City’s parks. Last seen locally in the 2012 New Museum Triennial “The Ungovernables,” the Shanghai-fabricated sculptures allow one to view what Bartholdi’s work looked like at first, without the green patina that’s covered the original. Separated from the larger body, the pieces become gorgeous, abstracted works of welded copper—something that’s probably been noted by both art fans and scrappers looking to pawn off metal, as one piece has already gone missing. Go see it before they’re all gone.
