Mai Abu ElDahab and Anthony Huberman will serve as co-curators of the 8th Liverpool Biennial (July 5-Oct. 31, 2014), working under artistic director Sally Tallant. Launched in 1999, the Liverpool Biennial displays previously existing and commissioned works at public and cultural venues throughout the city.
ElDahab is a curator from Cairo currently living in Brussels. As an independent curator, she was co-organizer of the ill-fated Manifesta 6 (2006) that was to take place in the partitioned city of Nicosia, Cyprus, and was canceled shortly before its opening date. From 2007 to 2012 she was the director of Objectif Exhibitions in Antwerp. She has edited and co-edited several publications including After Berkeley (2012), published by Sternberg Press.
Huberman is a Geneva-born curator and writer who is currently in New York, where he is the founding director of The Artist’s Institute. He takes up a new job as director of the CCA Wattis Institute, in San Francisco, in August. Previously, he was chief curator of the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, curator of the Palais de Tokyo, Paris, and curator of SculptureCenter, New York, and has independently organized exhibitions in various venues around the world.
