Fiona Romeo is joining New York’s Museum of Modern Art as director of digital content and strategy, a newly created position. She was previously the head of design and digital media at London’s Royal Museums Greenwich.
In a press release, MoMA director Glenn D. Lowry described how the new post would fit into museum operations. “Fiona’s appointment builds upon the Museum’s pioneering work in the digital realm, and is a reflection of the dynamic and vital role that digital content plays in the way people can participate in the life of the Museum.”
Romeo will work under Peter Reed, the senior deputy director for curatorial affairs, and lead MoMA’s digital media department. As part of her new role, she will oversee the museum’s website, including exhibition pages, the online collection and live-streamed events. She will also direct the development of mobile applications, with the goal of increasing MoMA’s digital outreach.
