Gaëtane Verna has been appointed the new director of Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, Toronto, Canada. Assistant director Christy Thompson has been serving as interim director since Gregory Burke’s departure in May of last year.
Verna, who previously served as director and chief curator at the Musée d’art de Joliette in Lanaudière, Québec, was selected after an international search. Her predecessor, Burke, resigned after 6 years, having just completed a substantial renovation and expansion of the gallery.
Power Plant is currently celebrating its 25th year with the show “Dissenting Histories: 25 Years of the Power Plant” [through Sept. 3].
