Produced over the past three years, these paintings and sculptures by British painter Glenn Brown are among his best. Referencing Renaissance and Baroque imagery and using a technique reminiscent of Surrealist painters like Dalí and Tanguy, Brown creates a hallucinogenic realm of esoteric meaning. Especially potent here are the outlandish sculptures, featuring found antique figurative bronzes, which he slathers over and nearly obliterates with globs of colorful oil paint.
