
A rose is a rose is a rose, but not always. In this show of large color photographs by the German-born artist Heide Hatry, the trompe l’oeil floral constructions are composed of animal innards, genitals and other nasty bits-all artfully transformed in a ways that recall botanical studies, 19th-century floral albums, seed catalogue illustrations, and both Eastern and Western flower-painting traditions. The artist, who grew up on a hog farm, previously made creepy dolls with pigskin and curated a show of work by Carolee Schneemann of “Meat Joy” fame.
