William S. Burroughs’s statement about improvised strategies using minimal economic resources in his 1953 novel Junky inspired artist and guest curator Iv·n Navarro to put together this luminous exhibition of sculptures and installations by artists who experiment with light. On view are some major pieces by R.M. Fisher, Josiah McElheny, Jorge Pardo, Pipilotti Rist, Stephen Dean, Deborah Kass, Alfredo Jaar, He An and others, using a wide variety of light fixtures and unusual light sources. Displayed in both Kasmin venues, the
exhibition has the cumulative effect of thought-provoking reverie.
