Michelle Yun, since last May curator at New York’s Hunter College Art Galleries, is moving a fifth of a mile northwest, to join the staff at Asia Society New York as curator of modern and contemporary art, a new position at the Society.
At Hunter, Yun organized exhibitions including “Patti Smith. 9.11” and co-curated “Notations: The John Cage Effect Today.” Yun was previously a consulting curator at the Museum of China Cultural Arts (MoCCA), Beijing. She has also served as a curatorial assistant at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. She holds an art history MA from Columbia University and was also previously a director at Pace Prints.
Yun will be replaced at Hunter by Sarah Watson, who is now assistant curator at MacAndrews & Forbes, a holding company in New York owned by business magnate and philanthropist Ronald O. Perelman. Watson holds an MA in art history from Hunter College.
