You might be tempted to call the works in “Interior Color Beauty” decorative, and in a way you wouldn’t be far off. Though that’s generally a dirty word in art criticism, these abstract works—in tones (according to their titles) of cream, bisque, aspen, bronze green and the like—reproduce color samples from a 1930s booklet outlining color choices for prefab houses, realizing them as readymade paintings. The printer, General Houses, was founded by none other than the artist’s father.
