There are two more weekends to see “Strange Oasis” at Kent Fine Art, which offers an engaging overview of installations related to the conversations about art and its social systems that Pablo Helguera has initiated over the last few years. Particularly compelling his letters to young artists, written in preparation for The Parable Conference, an interactive project held at the Brooklyn Academy of Music last October. The correspondence is now shown under glass, but the gallery also has live opportunities for visitors to partake in Helguera’s rituals of contact and exchange. Make wagers in a red gaming room to have your fortune told by the croupier (no real money is at stake), or duck into a curtained alcove by the front desk to be inducted into a secret society.
