Opening just after the polar vortex hit New York, Sarah Crowner’s third solo exhibition at Nicelle Beauchene is certainly a sight for frost-covered eyes. A series of abstract paintings, their undulating red patterns made from sewn pieces of canvas, are positioned around a stagelike platform paved with handmade teal-blue tiles. Blurring the boundaries between craft, theater and interior design, the installation offers a warm, inclusive take on modernist art.
