Spencer Finch has long translated scientific and natural phenomena into easily digestible-and often seductive-artworks. Finch’s debut show at Cohan features sculptural installations (the main one records the color, depth and location of 298 different points within Walden Pond), drawings and sculptures made over the past three years. As is often the case, the most surprising is also the simplest-in this case a pair of works on paper in which Finch uses pieces of Scotch tape to depict reflections on the surface of Walden Pond in one example, and clouds at Giverny in another.
